1500 W peak pulse, AEC-Q101 — the automotive-grade TVS for 24 V rails
The 1.5SMC27CAH: Its 23.1 V reverse standoff voltage and 37.5 V clamping ceiling make it a fit for protecting 24 V nominal power buses in automotive and telecom equipment. AEC-Q101 qualification means this part has passed the automotive-grade stress tests — temperature cycling, high-temperature reverse bias, and ESD — required for under-hood and cabin electronics.
The minimum breakdown voltage is 25.7 V, so the diode starts conducting just above the 24 V rail's normal regulation band. The maximum clamping voltage of 37.5 V at 42 A peak pulse current limits the transient voltage seen by downstream components — a 24 V-rated ECU input with 40 V abs-max survives this clamp. Bidirectional (single channel) means the same device clamps positive and negative transients symmetrically — no need for two diodes in anti-series on a bipolar signal line or an AC-coupled data pair.
