Automotive-grade transient suppression
The 1.5SMC27AH: Its 23.1 V reverse standoff voltage and 37.5 V clamping at 42 A peak pulse current make it a fit for 24 V automotive and telecom rail protection where the nominal bus sits at 24 V and transients must be clamped before the downstream DC-DC converter's input rating.
Clamping voltage and pulse current
For a 24 V nominal rail with a 40 V absolute-maximum input on the downstream regulator, this clamp gives margin — the regulator sees 37.5 V worst-case, not the full transient. Breakdown voltage min is 25.7 V, so the diode starts conducting between 25.7 V and the standoff voltage of 23.1 V. This 2.6 V window means the part does not leak appreciably at the 24 V bus voltage but triggers before the rail exceeds the downstream components' ratings. Single unidirectional channel — one diode per package. For a bidirectional rail, two parts or a bidirectional variant from the same series would be needed.
