1500W surge clamp for a 15.3V rail
The 1.5SMC18A R7G: It protects a 15.3V reverse standoff rail, clamping transients at 25.5V maximum while conducting 60A peak pulse current. The 1500W rating means this part absorbs a 1.5 kW surge for the standard 1 ms pulse duration — enough for a 24V nominal bus or a 12V system with load-dump margins. The clamping voltage of 25.5V is the ceiling the downstream circuitry must survive.
DO-214AB package and temperature range
Housed in a DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, the 1.5SMC18A R7G fits a standard power TVS footprint with a large copper pad area under the cathode tab for thermal management. The unidirectional single-channel configuration (one channel) is polarity-sensitive — the cathode is marked on the package. For a bidirectional rail, two parts or a bidirectional variant is needed.
