The 1.5KE250A B0G: The 214 V reverse standoff voltage (working voltage) means it sits across a 200 V or 240 V DC rail and stays transparent until a transient exceeds the 237 V minimum breakdown threshold. The DO-201AA (DO-27) axial-lead package handles the thermal pulse of a 1500 W surge without secondary heat sinking, relying on the lead wire and PCB copper for thermal relief.
Voltage ratings and the clamping ceiling
Three voltage numbers define the protection window: reverse standoff (214 V typ), breakdown (237 V min), and clamping (344 V max at Ipp). The gap between standoff and breakdown is the margin the rail has before the diode starts conducting leakage current — a 200 V nominal bus sits comfortably below the 214 V standoff with no DC bias penalty. The 344 V clamp ceiling is the hard limit the downstream components must survive. For a 240 VAC rectified bus (≈340 VDC peak), the clamp voltage sits just above the normal peak, so the TVS only activates on genuine transients above the line crest.
