Surge protection for 24V rails
The 1.5KE24CA R0G: Its 20.5V reverse standoff voltage means it sits across a 24V nominal rail without conducting in normal operation, then clamps transients to 33.2V max at 47A peak pulse current. That clamping voltage is what the downstream silicon sees during a surge — a 24V-rated DC-DC converter or sensor input survives if its abs-max rating sits above 33.2V. The bidirectional channel (single device) protects against both positive and negative surges, so a single part covers an AC-coupled or bipolar line without needing two diodes back-to-back.
Package and board fit
Through-hole DO-201AA (DO-27) axial package — the leads insert into 1.0 mm diameter plated-through holes on a standard 0.100-inch pitch. The body diameter is 5.3 mm typical, so adjacent parts on the same row need 7-8 mm centre-to-centre spacing for clearance. Tape-and-reel packaging suits automated insertion for volume builds.
