DO-201 axial package and rework reality
Housed in a DO-201AA / DO-27 axial-lead package (supplier device package DO-201), it is a through-hole part meant for point-to-point wiring or PCB mounting with lead bending. The axial body is large enough to dissipate the 1500 W pulse without derating at 25 °C, but the leads carry the thermal path to the board — keep the lead length short to the pad to minimise series inductance and maximise heat sinking into the copper. Rework on this package is straightforward: clip the leads, clear the holes with a solder sucker, and replace.
