Peak pulse rating and what it protects
The 1.5KE18CA R0G is a 1500W bidirectional Zener TVS diode from Taiwan Semiconductor's 1.5KE series. The 15.3V reverse standoff voltage (working voltage) means it sits across a 12V or 15V rail without conducting leakage — it only clamps when the transient exceeds the 17.1V minimum breakdown threshold. At the 60A peak pulse current (10/1000µs waveform), the clamping voltage is held to 25.5V max. For a 12V rail powering sensitive logic, that clamp margin is tight but within the abs-max of most 5V and 3.3V downstream regulators when the TVS is placed close to the board entry.
Package and board-fit
The 1.5KE series uses a standard 0.042-inch diameter lead — it fits existing DO-201 footprints without a layout change. Operating junction temperature range spans -55°C to 175°C — the 175°C ceiling gives margin for high-ambient enclosures or crowded boards where the TVS self-heats during repetitive surge events.
