What the 1500W peak pulse rating means for your BOM
The 1.5KE120AHA0G is a 1500W (1.5kW) Zener TVS diode in the 1.5KE series, rated for a 102V reverse standoff voltage. That 165V clamp is the voltage the downstream components must survive — if your DC bus or signal line sees a transient that would push beyond 165V, this part holds it there. The unidirectional construction (single-channel, cathode-band marked) means it protects one polarity rail. Use it on a 12V or 24V automotive battery line, an alternator output, or a sensor supply where the steady-state voltage stays below 102V and the transient energy fits within the 1500W peak pulse envelope.
Automotive grade and temperature range
The DO-201AA (DO-27) axial leaded package is a through-hole form factor. It mounts into a 1.1mm diameter hole on a PCB or can be wired point-to-point with heat-shrink sleeving. The axial body is large enough to dissipate the 1500W pulse without delaminating the epoxy, but the leads must be kept short (<6mm from body to solder joint) to minimise inductance that would raise the clamp voltage above 165V on fast edges.
