Product details

1500 W bidirectional TVS for 8.55 V rail protection

The 1.5KE10CA A0G: With an 8.55 V reverse standoff voltage and a 14.5 V clamping point at 108 A, it protects a nominal 8 V or 9 V DC rail against transients up to that energy level. The bidirectional configuration means a single device clamps both positive and negative surges across the rail — useful on AC-coupled lines or DC buses where the polarity isn't guaranteed. The 9.5 V minimum breakdown voltage sits above the standoff level, so the part stays transparent during normal operation and only starts conducting when the transient pushes the rail past the regulation band.

Voltage envelope and pulse current

For a downstream component rated at, say, 16 V abs-max, this clamp provides margin — the TVS holds the rail below the failure threshold while absorbing the transient energy. In practice, the actual power the device handles depends on the surge waveform and duration — the 10/1000 µs standard is the common reference for telecom and industrial surge testing per IEC 61000-4-5.

Package and temperature range

Housed in a DO-201AA (DO-27) axial-lead package, the 1.5KE10CA A0G is a through-hole device suited for point-to-point wiring or PCB mounting with 0.040-inch diameter leads. The DO-201 footprint is standard across the 1.5KE family, so the board layout transfers if a different voltage variant is needed later. Rated for continuous junction operation from -55°C to 175°C, the device covers the full industrial temperature envelope. The wide range means it can be placed in outdoor enclosures, near hot power stages, or in cold-start environments without derating the surge capability at the temperature extremes.
