What the AEC-Q101 grade means for the BOM
The 1.5KE100CAH is the automotive-qualified variant of the standard 1.5KE100CA. For a BOM that already carries the commercial 1.5KE100CA, swapping to the -CAH variant requires no footprint change — the DO-201AA / DO-27 axial package is identical.
Clamping window and rail protection
With an 85.5V reverse standoff voltage, this part sits on a nominal 48V or 60V DC bus without conducting leakage current. The minimum breakdown voltage of 95V guarantees the TVS does not avalanche during normal rail ripple. For a 48V automotive system where the alternator load-dump transient can reach 120V, the 137V clamp keeps the bus below the 150V abs-max rating of most 48V-rated DC-DC converters.
Temperature envelope and deployment
The extra 50°C headroom at the top end means this part can be placed closer to the engine block or exhaust manifold without derating the peak pulse power. The 1500W (1.5kW) peak pulse power rating is specified at 25°C; derate linearly above that temperature per the datasheet curve. At 175°C junction, the effective pulse power is roughly 60% of the 25°C rating.
