Sensitive-gate TRIAC for low-power AC switching
The Z0103NN5AA4 is a logic-level sensitive-gate TRIAC rated for 800 V off-state voltage and 1 A RMS on-state current in a SOT-223 surface-mount package. The 3 mA max gate trigger current (Igt) means a microcontroller GPIO or a low-voltage logic output can fire it directly through a series resistor — no separate driver transistor needed. Hold current (Ih) is 7 mA max, so the TRIAC stays latched once triggered as long as the load draws above that threshold; below it the device commutates off at the next zero-crossing.
Package, temperature range, and where it fits
Housed in a TO-261-4 / SOT-223 package, the Z0103NN5AA4 mounts on standard FR4 with the tab soldered to the board copper for thermal dissipation — the junction-to-ambient path relies on the PCB pad area. Rated for -40°C to 125°C junction temperature, it handles the full industrial temperature band — suitable for appliance control boards, HVAC actuator drives, and solid-state relay front-ends that see ambient heat from nearby transformers or motors. Surge current capability is 8 A at 50 Hz and 8.5 A at 60 Hz (Itsm non-repetitive), giving margin for inrush from a capacitive load or a cold-filament lamp without immediate failure.
Lifecycle and compliance
The Z0103NN5AA4 is ROHS3 compliant. Available in Tape & Reel or Cut Tape options for pick-and-place or bench prototyping.
