Quad Darlington driver for inductive loads
The ULN2075B is a quad NPN Darlington array from STMicroelectronics, rated for 80 V collector-emitter breakdown and 1.75 A continuous collector current per channel. Each Darlington pair delivers a saturation voltage of 1.5 V max at 1.5 A with 2.25 mA base drive — the low Vce(sat) keeps conduction losses manageable in a 1 W package when switching solenoids, relays, or small DC motors.
Package and thermal budget
Housed in a 16-lead PowerDIP (0.300" body width, 7.62 mm row spacing), the through-hole package suits prototyping and low-to-medium volume production where wave solder is the assembly method. The 1 W power dissipation ceiling means the sum of all four channels' conduction losses must stay under that limit — at 1.5 A per channel, duty cycle or ambient derating applies above 25 °C.
