The TYN410RG: Standard recovery SCR rated for 400 V off-state blocking and 10 A RMS on-state current (6.4 A average) in a TO-220-3 through-hole package. Non-repetitive surge current is 100 A at 50 Hz and 105 A at 60 Hz (half-cycle), which covers motor inrush and capacitive loads typical in phase-control circuits like light dimmers and heater controllers.
Gate drive and hold current — what the driver needs
Maximum gate trigger current is 15 mA, with a maximum gate trigger voltage of 1.5 V. The holding current is 30 mA maximum. These numbers are compatible with standard logic-level gate drivers or a simple resistor-limited DC trigger from a microcontroller I/O pin — just ensure the gate pulse amplitude and duration exceed the Igt threshold to guarantee turn-on over temperature. Off-state leakage is 10 µA maximum, which is negligible for most line-frequency loads but worth noting if the load impedance is very high (e.g., a bleeder resistor in a snubber network).
The TO-220-3 package is through-hole, so it mounts to a heatsink with a screw or clip — the tab is the anode connection, so insulate the heatsink or use a mica washer if the heatsink is grounded.
