Signal-level Schottky in a hermetic glass barrel
The STMicroelectronics TMMBAT43FILM is a 30 V, 200 mA Schottky diode in a DO-213AA glass package — the Mini MELF form factor. It is designed for high-speed switching and low forward voltage drop in signal-level rectification, clamping, and protection circuits. The 5 ns reverse recovery time and 7 pF junction capacitance at 1 V reverse bias make it a natural fit for RF detector stages, high-frequency DC-DC converter output rectification, and ESD clamp networks on data lines.
30 V reverse standoff and 200 mA forward current
The 30 V maximum reverse voltage covers 5 V, 12 V, and 24 V rail protection without headroom concerns. The 200 mA average rectified current is the continuous load ceiling — derate above 85 °C junction temperature per the standard Schottky thermal profile. Forward voltage is specified at 1 V maximum at 200 mA, which sets the conduction loss floor for the application. Reverse leakage is 500 nA at 25 V reverse bias, rising with junction temperature — a consideration for battery-powered or high-temperature designs.
Glass DO-213AA: hermetic seal for demanding environments
The DO-213AA glass package is a hermetic, surface-mount barrel with metallised end caps — the Mini MELF. It offers superior moisture resistance compared to plastic SMD packages, making it a candidate for avionics, downhole instrumentation, and outdoor telecom modules where humidity or condensation is present. The junction temperature range spans -65°C to 125°C, covering military and industrial temperature grades. The glass body also provides good thermal cycling endurance for applications with wide ambient swings.
Active lifecycle and compliance standing
It is ROHS3 compliant, with no restricted substances above the threshold limits. For dual-sourcing resilience, the BAT43 series includes several pin-compatible glass and plastic SMD variants from multiple manufacturers. Qualifying an alternate now avoids a single-source lock-in if allocation shifts.
