JFET input stage — 20 pA bias current for high-impedance signal chains
The 16V/µs slew rate paired with a 4 MHz gain-bandwidth product means this op-amp can swing a 10 V peak-to-peak output up to roughly 250 kHz before slew-rate limiting becomes the dominant distortion mechanism. That is enough headroom for most audio-frequency and low-speed instrumentation paths.
The TL071CN operates from a single or split supply spanning 6 V to 36 V total. The JFET input stage also gives this part a characteristically low noise floor in the 10 Hz to 10 kHz band, though the datasheet should be consulted for the exact noise density curve.
Texas Instruments no longer manufactures this through-hole DIP variant in volume. For new designs, the surface-mount TL071CD (SOIC-8) or the TL071ID (industrial temperature range) are the recommended active successors, though neither is a drop-in replacement for the DIP footprint.
