What the AEC-Q100 grade means for your audio chain
The TDA7303 is an I²C-controlled audio tone processor from STMicroelectronics, qualified to AEC-Q100 Grade 3 (-40°C to +85°C). The 1.25 dB step size on the tone control gives you fine-grained EQ adjustment without audible zipper noise on step changes. It runs on a 6V to 10V supply rail, which is the sweet spot for automotive head-unit power supplies derived from the 12V battery bus. The 2-channel configuration handles left-right stereo processing — bass, treble, and volume — through a single I²C bus, keeping the wiring harness simple.
Package and board-fit for the 28-SOIC wide body
Housed in a 28-SOIC wide-body package (7.50 mm body width), the TDA7303 is hand-solderable with a fine-tip iron and a steady hand — no hot-air rework station required. It ships in a Tube, so you get 28-30 parts per tube depending on the supplier's packing standard. The surface-mount footprint is standard for 28-SO wide — same land pattern as the TDA7719 and TDA7419, so if you're migrating between these parts the PCB layout stays the same. Just watch the supply voltage: the TDA7303 needs 6V-10V, while the TDA7419 runs on 8V nominal.
