Product details

10 A RMS, 800 V — the load-switching ceiling

The T1050-8G-TR: Rated 10 A RMS on-state current at 800 V off-state, this Alternistor-Snubberless triac switches AC loads up to that current in phase-control or on-off applications — a resistive heater, a motor contactor coil, or a lighting bank. The 800 V blocking voltage gives margin on a 230 VAC or 277 VAC line, and the 100 A / 105 A non-repetitive surge rating (50/60 Hz) handles inrush from cold filaments or motor start without exceeding the die's SOA. The Snubberless™ construction means the internal structure is designed to withstand high dV/dt without false triggering — no external RC snubber across the MT1-MT2 terminals for most inductive loads. That saves a resistor and capacitor per triac on the BOM, and the board area they would occupy.

D2PAK — the thermal path is the copper pour

Surface-mount D²Pak (TO-263-3, two leads plus tab). The tab is the main current-carrying terminal (MT2) and the primary heat path — the junction-to-case thermal resistance depends on the PCB copper area soldered to the tab. For a 10 A RMS load, a 1 oz copper pour of at least 2 in² per tab is typical to keep the junction below 125 °C. The package is compatible with standard reflow profiles;.

Gate drive and hold — standard sensitivity

Gate trigger current (Igt) max is 50 mA at 1.3 V max — this is the standard sensitivity level for a 10 A triac. It interfaces directly with common opto-triac drivers (MOC30xx series, for example) without an additional driver transistor. The 50 mA hold current (Ih) means the triac latches on until the load current drops below that threshold near the AC zero-cross — fine for resistive and most inductive loads, but verify the load's minimum holding current in a low-power tap.

Lifecycle and sourcing

ROHS3 compliant. The D²Pak package is a standard footprint, so second-sourcing from other triac manufacturers (if needed) is possible with a layout review — the pinout (MT1, MT2, gate) is industry-standard for TO-263 triacs.
