Snubberless alternistor for inductive-load switching
The STMicroelectronics T1035-6G-TR is a Snubberless™ alternistor triac rated for 600 V off-state and 10 A RMS on-state current, housed in a surface-mount D²PAK (TO-263-3) package. Its alternistor construction gives it a higher dv/dt immunity than a standard triac, and the Snubberless designation means it can switch inductive loads like motors, solenoids, and transformers without the external RC snubber network that conventional triacs require.
Maximum gate trigger current (Igt) is 35 mA, with a maximum gate trigger voltage (Vgt) of 1.3 V. That 35 mA Igt is on the higher side — a standard logic-level output from a microcontroller or optocoupler may not drive it directly. Plan for a driver transistor or a dedicated triac driver optocoupler (like a MOC3063 or similar) that can source at least 35 mA. The 35 mA hold current (Ih) means the triac will stay latched once triggered as long as the load current stays above 35 mA; below that it will commutate off at the next zero-crossing. For very light loads (e.g., a small fan or relay coil below 35 mA), the triac may not latch reliably — verify the minimum load current against the Ih spec.
Surge current and thermal management in D²PAK
Non-repetitive surge current (Itsm) is rated at 100 A for 50 Hz and 105 A for 60 Hz, one cycle. This covers the inrush from incandescent lamps, motor start, or capacitive loads. Without adequate thermal management, junction temperature will exceed the 125°C maximum under sustained load.
The Snubberless series has been a staple in industrial AC switching for years, and the D²PAK package is widely used, so supply continuity is generally good.
