The STPST12H100SF is a 100 V, 12 A Power Schottky rectifier from STMicroelectronics, built on trench technology and housed in a surface-mount package. It is part of the ECOPACK®2 series, which means the device is lead-free and meets the RoHS and halogen-free requirements for environmentally sensitive designs. Typical applications include secondary-side rectification in switched-mode power supplies, freewheeling diodes in DC-DC converters, and OR-ing diodes in redundant power systems where low forward voltage drop and fast switching are needed.
Switching speed and the 'fast recovery' label
The datasheet lists a fast recovery time of ≤ 500 ns at > 200 mA. For a Schottky diode, which is a majority-carrier device, reverse recovery is inherently fast. This makes the part suitable for continuous-conduction-mode boost or flyback converters where the diode's turn-off losses matter.
