SiC Schottky — zero recovery loss in hard-switched stages
Its zero reverse recovery time (trr = 0 ns) eliminates the switching loss term that plagues ultrafast silicon diodes in continuous-conduction-mode PFC, boost, and flyback converters.
600 V blocking, 8 A forward — sizing the power stage
Rated 600 V DC reverse and 8 A average rectified current, the STPSC806D fits 400 V bus PFC stages and 250–350 VDC output rectifiers with adequate derating. Forward voltage is 1.7 V maximum at 8 A, 25°C junction — the conduction loss at full load is about 13.6 W, which the TO-220AC package must sink through a heatsink. That extra margin matters in a sealed enclosure or high-ambient industrial drive where the heatsink temperature runs near 100°C.
