SiC Schottky pair — no recovery tail, 1200 V blocking
The STPSC20H12CWL is a silicon-carbide Schottky diode array from STMicroelectronics, part of the ECOPACK® series. It integrates two common-cathode diodes in a single TO-247-3 through-hole package, each rated for 1200 V DC reverse voltage and 25 A average rectified current. This eliminates the switching losses and ringing that plague silicon fast-recovery diodes in hard-switched converters above 50 kHz.
Thermal headroom and forward drop at load
At 10 A forward current the maximum forward voltage is 1.5 V, which sets the conduction loss floor per diode in a continuous-current topology like a boost PFC. Reverse leakage is specified at 60 µA at the full 1200 V blocking voltage — a figure that rises with junction temperature, so the thermal design should account for leakage-induced self-heating at high ambient and high line.
