650 V, 10 A SiC Schottky — the switching-loss ceiling for hard-switched PFC and flyback
The STPSC10H065DI is a 650 V, 10 A Silicon Carbide Schottky diode from STMicroelectronics, housed in a TO-220AC insulated package. Its zero reverse-recovery charge eliminates the MOSFET body-diode turn-on loss that plagues silicon ultrafast diodes in continuous-conduction-mode PFC and flyback converters, directly cutting switching losses and reducing EMI.
175°C junction — the thermal headroom for compact power stages
In a 10 A PFC stage, that headroom can shrink the heatsink by one size bracket or allow the same heatsink to handle a higher ambient.
Insulated TO-220AC — one fewer isolation pad on the BOM
The TO-220AC insulated package (Supplier Device Package: TO-220AC ins) has a fully isolated tab. That means the heatsink does not need a separate isolation pad or shoulder washer — the package itself provides the electrical isolation. For a through-hole assembly line, this saves one component placement and the associated thermal interface material cost. The mounting hole pattern is standard TO-220; the insulated tab thickness is the same as the non-insulated version, so existing heatsink clips and screws work without modification.
