170 V, 30 A dual Schottky – the automotive rectifier slot
The STPS61170CWLY is a dual Schottky rectifier from STMicroelectronics, configured as a common-cathode pair in a through-hole TO-247-3 package with long leads. The 60 µA reverse leakage at 170 V and fast recovery ≤500 ns suit it for high-frequency switching in automotive DC-DC converters, alternator rectifiers, and PFC stages. AEC-Q101 qualification and a 175°C maximum junction temperature confirm it for under-hood and engine-bay environments where ambient temperatures push 125°C.
AEC-Q101 and 175°C Tj – the deployment envelope
The 175°C junction maximum gives thermal headroom for continuous 30 A conduction in a 105°C ambient when the TO-247 package is bolted to a heatsink. The ECOPACK®2 finish is RoHS-compliant and halogen-free, so no exemption paperwork on the BOM.
Package and mounting – TO-247 Long Leads
The TO-247-3 with long leads is a through-hole package designed for screw-mount or clip-mount to a heatsink. The long leads give extra clearance for thick heatsink fins or bus-bar connections. The common-cathode configuration means the two anodes are separate pins, the cathode is the tab – orientation is marked on the body. Through-hole mounting is straightforward for rework; the tab can be soldered or bolted.
