Dual Schottky in a common-cathode I2PAK
The STPS40M100CR is a dual Schottky rectifier from STMicroelectronics, housing two 20 A diodes in a common-cathode configuration within a single I2PAK (TO-262) through-hole package. The fast recovery characteristic (≤ 500 ns, > 200 mA) suits continuous-conduction-mode topologies where reverse-recovery losses matter.
STMicroelectronics has placed the STPS40M100CR into Last Buy status. This is the final procurement window before production ceases. For a drop-in replacement, evaluate the STPS40M100CT (TO-220) or STPS40M100CG (D²PAK) – same die, different package – but verify the pinout and thermal pad compatibility against your existing I2PAK footprint.
Conduction losses and thermal design
At 20 A per diode the typical forward drop is 780 mV, yielding about 15.6 W conduction loss per diode at full rated current – the I2PAK tab must be heatsinked to keep junction temperature below the 150 °C maximum. Reverse leakage is 70 µA at 100 V, 25 °C – expect this to rise with junction temperature, so account for standby losses in high-temperature environments.
