Schottky rectifier for automotive power rails
The STPS340SY is a 40 V, 3 A Schottky rectifier in a DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, qualified to AEC-Q101 for automotive applications. Its 630 mV typical forward drop at 3 A keeps conduction losses low in DC-DC converter output rectification, freewheeling diodes, and reverse-polarity protection circuits.
The 3 A average forward current supports moderate loads like relay coils, solenoid drivers, and low-power motor freewheel paths. Forward voltage of 630 mV at 3 A sets the conduction loss at roughly 1.9 W under full load — the DO-214AB package's copper pad area on the PCB must be sized to keep junction temperature below the 150 °C maximum. Reverse leakage is specified at 20 µA at 40 V, 25 °C — expect it to rise with junction temperature, so a design running near the thermal limit should budget for increased leakage at high ambient.
