The STPS30M60SR is a 30 A, 60 V Schottky barrier rectifier from STMicroelectronics, housed in a TO-262-3 (I2PAK) through-hole package. The Schottky technology gives it a forward voltage of 590 mV at 30 A, which keeps conduction losses lower than a comparable pn-junction diode at the same current. The fast recovery spec — ≤500 ns — means it can handle switching frequencies well above line frequency without excessive reverse-recovery losses.
The 30 A average rectified current (Io) is the continuous forward current the diode can handle when properly heatsunk. In a 60 V system, derate this for ambient temperature and switching duty cycle — the junction temperature limit is 150 °C, and the 165 µA reverse leakage at 60 V climbs sharply with temperature, so thermal management is the real limiter. The 590 mV forward drop at 30 A is a typical value at 25 °C junction. At higher junction temperatures Vf actually decreases slightly, but the leakage current increases — the trade-off means the thermal design should target keeping the junction below 125 °C for reliable operation. The TO-262-3 (I2PAK) package is a through-hole, isolated-tab design.
