The STPS30L40CT is a dual Schottky rectifier from STMicroelectronics, configured as a common-cathode pair in a single TO-220-3 through-hole package. The fast recovery characteristic (≤500 ns, >200 mA) suits it for high-frequency switching in power supplies, DC-DC converters, and OR-ing diodes in redundant power architectures.
The 40 V reverse voltage rating is the maximum DC blocking voltage the diode can withstand in the off state. The 15 A per-diode average current is the continuous forward current each Schottky can handle at rated case temperature; the common-cathode pair can be paralleled for a total of 30 A if the PCB layout and heatsinking are designed for balanced current sharing. The 550 mV forward drop at 15 A is typical for a 40 V Schottky in this current class — lower than a pn-junction diode, which keeps conduction losses manageable in a high-current rail.
The junction temperature limit is 150 °C maximum. The common-cathode configuration means the two anodes are independent, so the tab is electrically common with the cathode — keep that in mind for heatsink isolation or use an insulating pad.
