30 A automotive Schottky in a PowerFlat 5x6
The STPS3045DJFY-TR is an STMicroelectronics automotive-grade Schottky rectifier rated for 30 A average rectified current and 45 V reverse voltage, housed in a PowerFlat 5x6 mm package with wettable flanks. Its 680 mV forward drop at 30 A keeps conduction losses low in high-current paths like alternator rectification, DC-DC converter output OR-ing, and reverse-battery protection.
AEC-Q101 and the 175°C junction rating
AEC-Q101 qualification means this diode passed the automotive stress tests (H3TRB, high-temperature reverse bias, power cycling) required for Tier-1 ECU and module programs. The 175°C Tj(max) rating is 25°C above the standard 150°C limit, which matters when the diode is mounted near a hot engine block or inside a transmission controller where the ambient can reach 140°C. At that temperature, a 150°C-rated part would be derated to near zero current; this one still delivers useful current.
Package and mounting: PowerFlat with wettable flanks
The 8-PowerVDFN package (PowerFlat 5x6 mm) uses a large exposed pad for thermal dissipation — the junction-to-case thermal path is short, so the 30 A rating holds with proper PCB copper area. The wettable flank feature creates visible solder fillets on the side of the package after reflow, which lets automated optical inspection (AOI) verify solder-joint quality. This is a requirement in many automotive production lines and eliminates the need for X-ray inspection on these joints.
STMicroelectronics lists the STPS3045DJFY-TR as Active (current production).
