Package reality: through-hole only
This part ships in a TO-262-3 I2PAK with long leads — a through-hole package. No surface-mount variant exists in this order code. If your reflow line needs an SMD footprint, you're looking at a different STPS family member. The I2PAK body handles the thermal mass of 30 A total continuous current, but board-mount is wave-solder or manual insertion, not pick-and-place. Shipping form is tube, not tape-and-reel.
Fast recovery classification — what the <500 ns rating tells you
Classified as Fast Recovery with trr < 500 ns at > 200 mA forward current. The rating confirms it's a switching diode, not a 50/60 Hz line rectifier.
