Automotive-grade Schottky rectifier for high-current power stages
The STMicroelectronics STPS2545CGY-TR is a dual Schottky rectifier in a common-cathode configuration, rated for 45 V reverse voltage and 25 A total average rectified current (12.5 A per diode). Its AEC-Q101 qualification and 175°C maximum junction temperature make it suited for automotive under-hood environments such as alternator rectification, DC-DC converter output stages, and reverse-battery protection. The low forward voltage of 840 mV at 25 A helps keep conduction losses manageable in high-current paths.
The 45 V reverse voltage gives headroom for 12 V and 24 V automotive rails, including load-dump transients that can push a nominal 12 V bus above 40 V. The 175°C junction rating means the die can handle the self-heating from 25 A forward current plus ambient under-hood heat without derating — a key spec for alternator or motor-drive rectifier bridges where the diode sees both high current and a hot environment.
