100 V 20 A Schottky — what it handles
The STPS20SM100SG-TR is a 100 V, 20 A Schottky rectifier from STMicroelectronics, built for the fast-switching, low-forward-drop leg of a power supply or OR-ing diode application. Package and thermal — D²PAK layout notes
The TO-263AB (D²PAK) surface-mount package has a large exposed tab on the bottom. That tab is the cathode and the primary thermal path. A two-layer board with minimal copper will run the junction hotter than a four-layer board with a dedicated thermal plane. The tab must be soldered; a dry joint here lifts the junction temperature by 20 °C or more.
