100 V / 20 A Schottky in a full-pack TO-220
The STPS20SM100SFP is a 100 V, 20 A Schottky rectifier from STMicroelectronics, housed in the TO-220FPAB full-pack package. The full-pack (isolated tab) variant means the metal tab is electrically isolated — no heatsink insulation pad needed, and the tab can be bolted directly to a grounded chassis or shared heatsink without worrying about the 100 V rail. The 20 A average forward current and 900 mV forward drop at 20 A are typical for a 100 V Schottky in this package class. The fast recovery characteristic (≤500 ns above 200 mA) suits it for the output rectification stage of a 100–200 W switch-mode power supply or a DC-DC converter where Schottky's low reverse-recovery charge cuts switching loss.
ST lists the STPS20SM100SFP as obsolete. The STPS20SM100S (same die in a standard TO-220 with non-isolated tab) is a common cross-shop candidate — the electrical specs match, but the package differs: the SFP full-pack is isolated, the S is not. A board designed for the full-pack's isolated tab needs a mechanical review before swapping to the S variant.
Leakage and thermal limits
Reverse leakage is 30 µA at 100 V. Junction temperature limit is 150 °C.
