What the 500 mV forward drop at 10 A means for your power stage
The STPS2030CT is a dual Schottky rectifier in a common-cathode configuration, rated for 30 V reverse voltage and 10 A average forward current per diode. The 500 mV maximum forward voltage at 10 A is the spec that drives conduction loss — at full load each diode dissipates roughly 5 W, so the TO-220 package needs a heatsink sized for that thermal budget.
That means the die and assembly lines are still running, but the part is on a path toward eventual discontinuation. For a production BOM that already qualifies this rectifier, the NRND flag is a signal to start evaluating a drop-in or functionally equivalent replacement before a last-time-buy notice appears. For new power-stage designs, a same-package Schottky with a similar Vf and current rating from the STPS20xx family is the safer call.
Package and mounting — through-hole TO-220
The STPS2030CT comes in a standard TO-220-3 through-hole package. The common-cathode pinout means the center tab and one pin are the cathode, the two outer pins are the anodes — a layout that suits center-tap secondary windings and dual-diode OR-ing arrays. The through-hole body is straightforward to hand-assemble or wave-solder, and the metal tab provides a low-thermal-resistance path to a heatsink.
