Schottky barrier for low-voltage rails
The STPS1L30MF is a 30 V, 1 A Schottky rectifier from STMicroelectronics, housed in the DO-222AA STmite Flat surface-mount package. Its key parametric is a forward voltage drop of 390 mV at 1 A — this is the conduction loss floor for the power path and the number that drives efficiency in a low-voltage rail.
Forward drop and thermal budget
At 1 A forward current the Vf is 390 mV max — that is about 390 mW conduction loss at rated current. In a compact STmite Flat package with a junction temperature ceiling of 150 °C, the thermal path through the copper pad on the board sets the real current derating. The reverse leakage is 390 µA at 30 V, which adds a standing loss that climbs with junction temperature.
Switching speed and application fit
Rated Fast Recovery ≤ 500 ns at > 200 mA forward current — this is a Schottky, so the recovery is majority-carrier, but the 500 ns ceiling covers the datasheet test condition. It fits secondary-side rectification in low-voltage DC-DC converters, polarity protection, and freewheeling diodes in 12 V or 24 V bus systems where the switching frequency stays under a few hundred kHz.
