170 V Schottky pair — application and ratings
The STPS16170CT is a dual common-cathode Schottky rectifier from STMicroelectronics, rated for a maximum reverse voltage of 170 V and an average forward current of 8 A per diode. Schottky construction gives a forward voltage of 920 mV at 8 A per leg, which keeps conduction losses lower than a comparable ultrafast recovery diode at this current density. The reverse leakage at 170 V is 15 µA, a typical figure for a 170 V Schottky — expect leakage to rise with junction temperature, so the thermal design should account for that at elevated loads.
For a pin-compatible replacement, the STPS16140CT (140 V, 16 A, same TO-220-3 common-cathode footprint) is a candidate if the 170 V blocking voltage margin is not required — verify the reverse voltage headroom in your application before substituting.
Maximum junction temperature is 175 °C, which allows operation in high-temperature environments such as power supplies and motor drives, provided the heatsink keeps Tj below that ceiling.
