170 V Schottky in a dual common-cathode DPAK

What the 170 V, 8 A rating means for your design
The 170 V reverse voltage rating places this part in the high-voltage Schottky class, suitable for output rectification in 48 V to 100 V bus converters and for flyback or forward converter secondary-side rectification where voltage spikes can exceed 100 V. The 8 A per diode average current is derated by junction temperature — the maximum junction temperature is 175°C, so the actual continuous current in a 85°C ambient enclosure may be lower depending on PCB copper area and airflow. The common-cathode pair in a single DPAK saves board space compared to two discrete diodes, but the shared cathode tab means both diodes must see the same DC potential on their cathodes — typical for center-tap full-wave rectifiers.
