Dual Schottky in a common-cathode pair
The STPS16150CR is a dual Schottky rectifier from STMicroelectronics, pairing two 8 A diodes in a common-cathode configuration. Each diode is rated for a maximum reverse voltage of 150 V, with a forward voltage drop of 920 mV at the full 8 A forward current.
175°C junction — the thermal headroom that matters
The maximum junction temperature of 175°C is the standout rating on this part. Most Schottky diodes top out at 150°C, so the extra 25°C buys real margin in a cramped PFC stage or an output rectifier running at elevated ambient. That 175°C figure is the junction limit, not a recommended operating point — but it means the thermal design can absorb a 150°C case temperature without derating the current, which simplifies heatsink selection in a 100 W+ supply.
Through-hole I2PAK — still the right call for high dissipation
The STPS16150CR comes in a TO-262AA (I2PAK) through-hole package with long leads. For a dual 8 A Schottky dissipating several watts, the through-hole package pulls heat into the board and the tab more effectively than a D²PAK on a standard 1 oz copper pour. The long leads also help when replacing a failed part on a board that has been through thermal cycling — the lead compliance reduces solder-joint stress.
