Dual 80 A Schottky in a bolt-down ISOTOP package
The STPS160H100TV from STMicroelectronics is a dual Schottky rectifier with two independent 80 A diodes in a single ISOTOP package rated for chassis mounting. Each diode handles an average rectified current of 80 A at a reverse voltage of 100 V, with a forward voltage drop of 800 mV at 80 A — a combination that keeps conduction losses manageable in high-current power stages.
80 A per leg — sizing the output stage
The 80 A average rating per diode is the headline number for sizing the rectifier stage. At 800 mV forward drop, each diode dissipates roughly 64 W at full rated current — the ISOTOP package's baseplate is designed to bolt directly to a heatsink, and the junction temperature limit of 150 °C sets the thermal budget. The 40 µA reverse leakage at 100 V is typical for a 100 V Schottky at room temperature; expect it to rise with junction temperature, so the heatsink design should keep the die well below the 150 °C ceiling to avoid thermal runaway in high-ambient environments.
