What the forward voltage and current ratings mean for the supply rail

In a 12 V output rectifier stage, that drop represents about 4.8% loss at full load per diode — acceptable for many industrial and telecom supplies, but worth comparing against a lower-Vf Schottky if the design is thermally constrained. The 7.5 A rating is per diode, so the common-cathode pair can handle a total of 15 A if the load splits evenly; in practice, derate for the junction temperature and the 175°C maximum junction limit.
