The STPS10170CB is a dual Schottky rectifier from STMicroelectronics, configured as a 1-pair common cathode in a DPAK (TO-252-3) surface-mount package. The fast-recovery speed (≤ 500 ns, > 200 mA) suits it for high-frequency switching in power supplies, DC-DC converters, and freewheeling diode applications where Schottky's low forward drop and fast switching reduce losses.
That means STMicroelectronics has ended production; no last-time-buy window remains from the factory.
Ratings that decide the fit
The 170 V reverse voltage gives headroom for 48 V and 72 V bus rails with derating. The 5 A per diode average current is the continuous rating — peak repetitive current will be higher, but the junction temperature limit of 175 °C (max) is the real constraint in a cramped DPAK layout. The 10 µA reverse leakage at 170 V is typical for a 170 V Schottky; expect it to rise with temperature, so factor that into standby-loss budgets.
Rework and board-fit notes
DPAK (TO-252-3) is a single-gauge leadframe with a large exposed tab. It reflows well with standard hot-air profiles — the tab soaks heat, so preheat the board to 100–120 °C before lifting the part to avoid pad damage. Orientation is marked by a chamfer on the body, but it is subtle — check under magnification before placing.
