Schottky rectifier for low-voltage power rails
The STMicroelectronics STPS0530Z is a 500 mA Schottky diode in a SOD-123 surface-mount package, rated for 30 V reverse voltage. Its 430 mV forward drop at the full 500 mA load keeps conduction losses low in low-voltage rails, while the 130 µA reverse leakage at 30 V is typical for a Schottky of this current class — expect leakage to double or triple above 100°C junction, so factor that into standby budgets for battery-powered gear.
430 mV forward drop — what it buys you
At 500 mA the forward drop sits at 430 mV max, which is about 215 mW dissipation in the die. In a SOD-123 on standard FR4 with minimal copper, that keeps the junction below 125°C in still air at 25°C ambient — fine for most board-level OR-ing and freewheeling duty. If the diode runs in a 85°C enclosure or carries continuous 500 mA, give the pad some copper pour to spread the heat.
