30 ns reverse recovery — the switching edge
The 30 ns reverse recovery time (trr) puts this in the fast-recovery class — rated for switching frequencies where a standard recovery rectifier would overheat from reverse current losses. This matters in a 200 V rail flyback or forward converter where the diode sees hard commutation. The 990 mV forward drop at 12 A is typical for a 200 V fast-recovery part in this current tier; expect some thermal derating above 100°C junction temperature, which is rated to 150°C max.
Common-cathode pair in TO-220 — layout fit
Two 12 A diodes share a common cathode in a single TO-220-3 package. That configuration maps directly to center-tap full-wave rectifier stages — the common cathode ties to the output rail, and the two anodes connect to each secondary winding end. The through-hole TO-220 case bolts to a heatsink via the metal tab (which is cathode potential), so the thermal path is straightforward. Reverse leakage is 50 µA at the 200 V rated voltage, which is clean for a 200 V design margin.
