STMicroelectronics lists the STP16NF06L as Obsolete. There is no official ST replacement listed in the lifecycle record, so any substitute requires a design review of pin-compatible alternatives in the same STripFET™ II family or a parametric match from another vendor.
At 5 V drive the on-resistance roughly doubles, so if your gate driver only swings 5 V, budget for 180 mOhm or more — that changes the I²R loss and heatsink requirement. Input capacitance is 345 pF at 25 V drain-source, which keeps the Miller plateau short and helps with switching speed.
