The STP14NF12 is a 120 V, 14 A N-channel power MOSFET from STMicroelectronics' STripFET™ II series, built with a planar stripe technology that keeps gate charge low at 21 nC (typical at 10 V).
Any stock you find today is what remains in the channel; there will be no last-time-buy window because the obsolescence has already occurred.
Gate charge and switching — what 21 nC means
With a typical gate charge of 21 nC at 10 V, the STP14NF12 is a relatively light load for a gate driver. A 1 A gate driver can charge the gate in about 21 ns, which keeps switching losses low in a 100 kHz SMPS or DC-DC converter. If you are replacing this part in an existing design, the low Qg means you can often keep the same gate-drive circuit.
Temperature range — -55 to 175 °C junction
The threshold voltage (Vgs(th)) is specified at 4 V maximum with 250 µA drain current, so a 10 V gate drive is the safe choice for full enhancement — 5 V logic-level drive may not fully turn it on, as the Rds(on) is characterized at 10 V.
