Dual-core asymmetric processing in a single BGA
The STM32MP157AAD3T is a dual-core microprocessor from STMicroelectronics' STM32MP1 series, combining a 650 MHz ARM Cortex-A7 application core with a 209 MHz ARM Cortex-M4 real-time coprocessor in a 257-TFBGA package.
The 257-TFBGA (10x10 mm) package with surface-mount assembly suits compact PCBs in motor drives, outdoor telecom, and engine-control modules.
Five USB 2.0 ports (two host, three OTG+PHY) cover multiple peripheral connections without external hub chips. The integrated Gigabit Ethernet MAC and 10/100 Mbps support industrial networking stacks. Additional interfaces include CAN, I²C, SPI, UART, MMC/SD/SDIO, SPDIF, and HDMI-CEC, which together address HMI panels, gateway appliances, and edge-compute nodes.
Security and graphics
ARM TrustZone (ARM TZ) provides a hardware-isolated secure environment for boot authentication, key storage, and secure firmware updates. The part includes graphics acceleration and an LCD display controller, making it suitable for embedded GUI applications without a separate GPU.
It is ROHS3 compliant.
