80 MHz Cortex-M4 with FPU — what that means for signal chains
The ARM Cortex-M4 core includes a single-precision floating-point unit, so FFTs, PID loops, and sensor fusion algorithms run in hardware rather than emulated in software. At 80 MHz, the part can sustain a 20 kHz control loop with headroom for communication stack overhead.
It is not AEC-Q100 qualified, so for under-hood automotive use you would look at the STM32L4Ax automotive-grade variants, but for industrial and commercial sealed enclosures the temperature range alone covers the thermal budget.
Package reality: 169-UFBGA (7x7 mm)
That is a fine-pitch BGA — standard reflow profiles work, but inspection and rework need X-ray and a hot-air station with a small nozzle.
