ARM Cortex-M0+ with a full peripheral load
The STM32L083V8T6 is STMicroelectronics' 32-bit MCU built around the ARM Cortex-M0+ core, clocked at 32MHz. It carries 64KB of Flash program memory, 20KB of RAM, and a separate 3KB EEPROM block for nonvolatile data storage without external parts. What sets this part apart in the STM32L0 family is the integrated LCD driver — it can directly drive a segmented glass LCD panel without a separate controller chip.
Active lifecycle — no near-term LTB risk
The STM32L0 series remains an active low-power portfolio; the L083 is a current-orderable line item.
Package and board integration
The 100-LQFP package (14x14mm body) provides 84 usable I/Os. It is a surface-mount, fine-pitch (0.5mm) leaded package — no BGA rework challenges, but the tight pitch means a well-controlled solder-paste stencil and profile. Standard JEDEC MSL-3 moisture sensitivity applies: bake before reflow if the bag has been open past the floor-life window. The exposed pad (thermal pad on the underside) should be connected to the PCB ground plane with a via array for heat sinking; the datasheet recommends a 2x2 via matrix under the pad.
