280 MHz Cortex-M7 with 2 MB Flash in a 4.57 x 4.37 mm WLCSP
The 132-WLCSP package measures 4.57 x 4.37 mm, suited for compact industrial sensor nodes, portable instrumentation, and human-machine interface panels where board area is at a premium. The 280 MHz core with single-cycle multiply-accumulate and double-precision floating-point unit handles real-time control loops, audio processing, and basic graphics rendering without an external DSP. The 1.4 MB RAM accommodates large frame buffers or data logging buffers, reducing the need for external SRAM in many designs.
The supply range of 1.62 V to 3.6 V allows operation from a single Li-ion cell or a regulated 3.3 V rail, with brown-out detect and POR built in. The 87 general-purpose I/O pins, combined with peripherals including CANbus, USB OTG, multiple SPI and I2C interfaces, and an LCD controller, cover most connectivity needs for a mid-complexity embedded system without external expanders.
Active lifecycle — no near-term EOL concern
The base product number STM32H7A3 covers a range of Flash and RAM density options in compatible packages, providing some supply flexibility within the family.
WLCSP layout considerations
The 132-WLCSP package with 0.4 mm pitch demands careful PCB layout: a solder-mask-defined pad with via-in-pad or microvia escape routing is typical. The 4.57 x 4.37 mm body leaves little room for decoupling capacitors under the package, so plan for bulk capacitance on the backside or along the board edge. Moisture sensitivity level is MSL 3 per the STM32H7 series default — bake before reflow if the sealed bag has been open past the floor-life window.
