480 MHz Cortex-M7 — compute headroom for real-time control
The STM32H742VGT6TR: ARM Cortex-M7 core at 480 MHz. The 1 MB Flash (1M x 8) and 688 KB RAM (688K x 8) support substantial firmware images and large data buffers. The 688 KB SRAM is enough for a full frame buffer at 1024x768 with 16-bit colour, or for holding multiple protocol stacks simultaneously in a connected industrial gateway.
Connectivity and peripheral set — one-chip system integration
The EBI/EMI bus allows glueless connection to external SRAM, NOR Flash, or LCD controllers. For an industrial controller or IoT edge node, this peripheral mix often eliminates the need for external bridge chips or a separate networking MCU. The 82 I/O lines in a 100-LQFP package (14x14 mm body) provide ample GPIO for parallel displays, keypads, and sensor arrays while leaving room for the high-speed serial interfaces.
