Memory and peripheral headroom for the design
The STM32H742BIT6: The 2 MB Flash is sized for a single firmware image with room for OTA staging or a second bootloader slot. The 692K x 8 RAM (roughly 692 KB) supports moderate-sized frame buffers, Ethernet packet queues, or real-time data logging without spilling to external SRAM. The 36-channel 16-bit ADC and 2-channel 12-bit DAC handle analog sensor acquisition and control outputs directly. Brown-out detect, POR, and the internal oscillator reduce external BOM count for supply monitoring and clock generation.
Package and mounting — 208-LQFP
Housed in a 208-LQFP package (28x28 mm body), the STM32H742BIT6 is a surface-mount device intended for standard reflow assembly. The 208 pins give access to the full peripheral set and 168 GPIOs. No exposed thermal pad is called out in the package code, so thermal dissipation relies on the leadframe and board copper — keep the ambient airflow or forced cooling in mind if running the core and peripherals near maximum load.
Lifecycle and supply posture
No official second source or pin-compatible alternate is recorded, so the BOM carries single-source risk — qualify a second-sourcing plan if volume ramps.
